PokerStars officially released the full version of its Mac-compatible online poker client last Friday, finally joining the very short list of online poker rooms with downloadable poker software for Mac, which previously included only one name – Full Tilt Poker.
PokerStars Mac has actually provided users with a downloadable poker client, though it has been in the “beta testing” mode since 2007. The PokerStars team has spent the last year renovating the software to offer a poker client that would be 100% compatible with Mac OS 10.4.10 and higher.

PokerStars announced the Mac release in a press release, stating, “The launch of PokerStars for Mac surpasses other web-based and outdated online poker Mac applications and secures PokerStars commitment to enhancing the experience for all players.”
Even the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Champion Joe Hachem had comments for the new Mac online poker software at PokerStars, stating “This is a great addition for both PokerStars and the poker playing audience. This will allow Mac users to experience the world’s largest online poker site without third-party applications.”
2008 PCA Champion Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier also offered his opinion. “PokerStars understands what gamers want. Although PCs are still the top gaming platform, the number of online games for Mac has been growing by leaps and bounds.
“The community started asking for an acceptable online poker version for Mac, and PokerStars stepped up to deliver it. They didn’t rush into a launch, but developed the best software for the platform, in line with Mac user feedback and advice, to ensure users have a positive experience.”
